Technology and Society

Technology, as a subject of (social) ethics, is by no means new. However, the ethical engagement with questions of technology and digitalization has gained increasing importance in recent decades due to various technological developments. This is evident, for example, in the fact that ethical questions surrounding so-called "artificial intelligence (AI)" are now almost indispensable in public and political debates, and research on this topic is rapidly advancing. The focus on technology and society in the field of social ethics aligns with these discourses and formulates normative guidelines (cf. Riedl 2022, 280; 287f.).
