Lehr- und Forschungsaktivitäten
1. Seminar: Theology and the Medium of Film, with Prof. Dr. Marek Lis (Faculty of Theology, University of Opole, Poland):
- Recent wars (Africa, Balkans) in European movies.
- Kieślowski’s DECALOGUE 25 years after its premiere: a response to social problems.
On April 13 and 14, in two seminar sessions with Prof. Dr. Lis, the possibilities and relevance of film as a medium for theology were discussed. Using several films on the theme of war (Balkans and Africa) and the series "Decalogue" by the Polish director Kieślowski, the cinematic treatment of the theme of death was a central focus of the discussion.
2. Guest Lecture: Human Rights in the 2nd Half of the 20th Century, with Prof. Dr. Radu Carp (University of Bukarest, Romania)
On April 22, 2015, Prof. Carp delivered a guest lecture on the topic of contemporary human rights, with particular emphasis on their development following the Universal Declaration of 1948, as part of the lecture "Christian Social Teaching II." By highlighting two different intellectual history traditions (Strauss and Maritain), Carp illustrated that even within Europe, different approaches to human rights can be demonstrated.
